Meet Dr. David Beanland, D.M.D., M.D.
Dr. Beanland was raised in Massachusetts, where he attended Merrimack College and received a BA in Biology in 1984. He then attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and earned a degree in Dental Medicine in 1992, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Beanland continued his education and training at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he earned a degree in Medicine in 1995. He completed an internship in General Surgery during the following year at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Beanland then completed his surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and anesthesia training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. Upon completing his surgical training, Dr. Beanland served as a Major in US Army Dental Corps until 2003. He was the base Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Ft. Irwin, CA (Army National Training Center) for 3 years. He was then selected for a teaching position at Madigan Army Medical Center, Ft. Lewis, WA, where he was the assistant director.
Memberships and Professional Associations
Dr. Beanland is the Treasurer of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also an active member of the society’s executive committee. As such, he is a member of the anesthesia subcommittee and is actively engaged in promoting safe office-based anesthesia techniques in oral and maxillofacial surgery offices.
Pediatric Anesthesia and Surgery
Dr. Beanland has a special interest in outpatient pediatric anesthesia and surgery. His practice vision is to always provide comfortable, safe and advanced anesthesia options to the youngest patients. Many of these pediatric patients have special needs. His typical morning schedule involves several pediatric and adolescent surgeries with general anesthesia. He is highly experienced with pediatric surgery and anesthesia, involving facial/jaw infection, pathology and trauma in young children.
Implant Surgery
Dr. Beanland also has extensive experience with dental implant surgery and grafting to reconstruct the jaws for implants. Patients with very complex or very aesthetic implant surgery cases are often referred to Dr. Beanland for treatment. Many are “Full or complete arch cases” where a patient requires removal of all teeth and reconstruction with implants. This allows the patient’s dentist to secure a prosthesis (e.g. Hybrid) to the implants.

Other Professional Interests
Other interests include wisdom teeth removal, jaw reconstruction, bone grafting, and the management of face and jaw trauma.
Outside the Office
Dr. Beanland enjoys coastal Maine, sailing, Vermont skiing, and what the outdoors offers with his wife Sarah, 2 boys, and friends.
